What could be better than homemade, buttery garlic bread? With this recipe, you’ll make Perfect Homemade Garlic Bread in just 15 minutes.
Garlic bread is an Italian food staple. I mean who wants a plate of pasta like Fettuccine Alfredo or Spaghetti Bolognese without a basket of fresh, warm garlic bread to go with it? This recipe makes fantastic homemade garlic bread with just a few simple ingredients.
Why This Recipe Works
- Using butter instead of oil adds flavor that’s indulgent and delicious.
- Fresh garlic instead of garlic powder gives it that distinctive taste that can’t be beat.
- The sea salt gives it an extra special touch.
- The sprinkle of parmesan cheese is the perfect finishing touch.
The only thing you need for amazing homemade garlic bread is butter, garlic, parsley, flaked sea salt and a touch of parmesan cheese. what makes this recipe stand out from the rest – the crunch and flavor the sea salt brings. It really is outstanding.
Ingredient Notes
- Bread:Fresh, Italian or French bread is best for garlic bread. Something with a crusty exterior and chewy, soft center that won’t get soggy when it bakes.
- Butter: For the best flavor, always use good quality, real butter not margarine. As this recipe calls for adding salt, I recommend using unsalted butter and tasting as you go.
- Garlic: Fresh chopped garlic gives the best flavor but you can use garlic paste or frozen chopped garlic.
- Parsley: Fresh chopped parsley gives the best taste but you can use dried in its place.
- Cheese: I like to use parmesan cheese but you can use any other Italian hard cheese. If you want your homemade garlic bread really cheesy add some mozzarella before you put it in the oven.
- Seasoning: Flaked sea salt takes the seasoning to another level, along with fresh ground black pepper.

Okay, I give up. I’ve looked all over the page and can’t find the size of the loaf of bread. Since I make my own breads, the size of the loaf is important when I use other’s recipes. Based upon the resulting 12 slices, I would assume that it should be a 12″ loaf, right?
Erren's Kitchen says
HI Karen, how wonderful that you make your own breads, yes I would think a 12″ loaf would be perfect.
Karen Horan says
Don’t be too impressed. I have 2 bread machines. They do all the hard work. They’re easy to find at reputable thrift stores. It’s frequent that I find what were clearly wedding/graduation/housewarming/etc rejects that have never been used. We use them enough that they have nervous breakdowns and we have to replace them every 3-4 years. I swear they cringe when they see me coming;-)

Ooooh my! I’d love to eat this with everything!
