This best ever chicken wings recipe can be oven-baked, air fried, or grilled making it a delectable dish that can be enjoyed all your round.
Easy Chicken Wing Recipe
These chicken wings are absolutely delicious! They’re crispy, sticky sweet, and sour. Best of all – they’re a cinch to make! You just marinate and cook. They’re perfect for anything from a party appetizer or to serve as a main meal.
Why This Recipe Works
- Garlic and ginger packs a punch of Asian flavors
- Using soy sauce gives the marinade a salty richness.
- Rice wine vinegar and mustard add brightness and sour notes.
- Brown Sugar adds caramel tones and sweetness that brings it all together perfectly.
Chicken Wing Buying Guide
Choose chicken with yellow-tinted, pale skin, that has pinkish meat, and naturally shaped cuts. Fresh chicken should always be plump and odor-free. Avoid any chicken with signs of damage or odor.
For The Marinade
Whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, and corn starch until smooth in a large bowl. Mix the brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, garlic, and ginger. Set aside ½ cup of mixture.
Add the chicken wings and coat in the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap, and marinate in the refrigerator for 1-8 hours.
Remove the wings and leave behind as much marinade as possible (it’s going to be our sauce).
In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the reserved marinade to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer until thickened.
How To Make Chicken Wings
Oven Baked Chicken Wings
Pat dry the wings before cooking to allow them to crisp up. Bake on a sheet pan for 30 minutes (for extra crispy wings, place a wire rack in the baking sheet and cook the wings on the rack) then turn wings over and cook the other side for another 20 minutes.
Turn the oven to broil. Brush sauce over wings and broil until caramelized, and the internal temperature of the wings reads 165°F.
Grilled Chicken Wings
Preheat a gas grill to medium heat (about 350°F). Place the wings on the grill and cook flipping the wings every 5 minutes, for a total of 20 minutes of cooking.
Brush the sauce onto the wings and grill until the skins crisp, 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reads 165°F.
Air Fried Chicken Wings
For crisp wings, dry them before starting.
Spray the basket or rack with cooking spray place the wings in the fryer basket or rack, so they are not touching. Set the air fryer to 360°F and cook for 15 minutes.
Then flip the wings with tongs, brush with the sauce, and cook for 15 minutes more or until the outsides are extra-crispy, and the internal temperature reads 165°F.
How To Keep Chicken Wings Crispy
- The best way to keep them crispy is to make sure the wings are spaced out enough to allow air circulating around them as they cook and preventing steam from forming.
- You can also skip the step of brushing on the sauce and serve the sauce on the side for dipping instead. If you do this, just be sure to cook the chicken until the internal temperature reads 165°F

Very delicious, thankyou. Is it possible to pre cook ahead of time & then reheat?
Erren's Kitchen says
Hi, I would suggest maybe marinating the chicken, leaving it in the fridge (you can leave it overnight if you like) then following the rest of the steps when you want to cook them. I’m not a huge fan of reheating cooked chicken and I haven’t done it with this recipe so I can’t really advise. I hope this helps? 🙂

Hi, I’m sorry you’re not happy with the pins we have chosen for the recipes, but it slows down my website to have too many options for pins. We narrow it down to a few to speed things up for users. Thanks for being a dedicated fan! 🙂
